Team News: Welcome Lindsay, our Lead Designer!

Team News: Happy Holidays to us! This year we get to enjoy the gift of a growing team.

Please welcome Lindsay, our new lead designer.

The hiring of a designer has been a long time coming for Remind101. As much as we all love the Kopf brothers, they aren’t exactly the most artistically suave gents. So while we give them a wowing applause for getting the site to where it is today with little more than white board drawings, it’s finally time to give the website’s interface the attention it craves.

As soon as Lindsay jumped on the Remind101 boat, she started making moves. She’s hard at work, as we speak, beginning stage one of re-decorating our entire website. Even more exciting (well, maybe equally exciting) is what Lindsay’s influence means for problem solving the interface nuances that have made navigating Remind101 sometimes less than enjoyable. She has the fun roll of analyzing where teachers have gotten stuck in the past, and how to bulldoze those obstacles. We’ve already gotten some sneak peeks of what the new site could be, and you’re going to LOVE it.

Lindsay graduated from RIT, Rochester Institute of Technology, with a bachelor of fine arts in New Media Design and Development. As you may recall, our lead developer, Jeremy, also graduated from RIT. The verdict is still out on whether either of them are hiding crazy college stories about each other.

Since graduation, Lindsay has been busy building up her fabulous resume working for places like MODE, Odopod, Hunt & Gather, IBM, and BEAM. Since 2009, she’s moved from New York, to California, to North Carolina, married her hubby, Andy, and then moved back to New York. Somewhere in there she and Andy also began raising their two canine “children,” Bowser and Leeloo. I know it sounds exhausting, but believe me, she’s high energy.

Much to the chair next to mine’s dismay, Lindsay’s isn’t working from the San Francisco office. She will be working remotely from her home in Rochester, New York. I’d say we miss her, but luckily her presence is never absent. We keep a live facetime going with Lindsay on the company iPad all day.

Hey Lindsay! (and Brett in the corner)

Who am I kidding…we still miss her.

If you’re in the Rochester area and want to meet Lindsay, let her know. You can connect with her directly on Twitter

Welcome Lindsay! We’re so excited to have you!

News: We made our first hire! We’d like to extend a warm welcome to Jeremy, our lead developer.

The fact that Jeremy Ruppel survived college on little more than 3 not-so-square meals of straight chicken broth a day, is only one of the many reasons we knew we had to hire him.

Coding since he was just a lad, Jeremy’s skills as a developer are nothing short of genius.

After graduating from RIT where he studied New Media Interactive Development, Computer Audio and Creative Writing, Jeremy moved to San Fran and joined AKQA, an independent agency with clients like Audi, Clorox, Heineken, Nike, Target, Visa and Xbox. After over 3 years excelling as a developer with AKQA, he came to join our more quaint team and, “Rock the full-stack architecture of the remind101 platform.”

As our Lead Developer, Jeremy’s job is to ensure that, well basically, everything in the entire remind101-verse works smoothly. Anytime you use remind101, login to the site, send a message, or receive a message, you have Jeremy to thank (David too, but this post isn’t about him).

You could say that makes him a fairly important piece to the remind101 puzzle.

Wondering how we found such a rock-star? Remind101 and Jeremy go way back. In college Jeremy spent many weekends on remind101 co-founder Brett’s couch, coding (naturally), and discussing his fear of ski lodges and pretzels.

Since their college days together, Jeremy has learned to add more ingredients to his chicken broth meals now qualifying them as “soup,” and all the while casually becoming higher and higher regarded as an incredible developer with mad skills.  He once single handedly developed a website for Kellog that included a skateboarding pop-tart!

Obviously, we’re honored to have him! Welcome Jeremy!
